The Public Health and Social Development Group at MedicaSynergie focuses on providing evidence-based strategic inputs and technical assistance to the Government of India, State Governments, International Development agencies and NGOs in the areas of policy, planning and implementation across the public health and social development sector. The Group has acquired extensive experience in supporting various national programmes under the aegis of National Rural Health Mission. It has also undertaken several projects covering a wide gamut of services related to health system strengthening.

It is working towards making healthcare more accessible by developing alternative health financing mechanisms that offer Community-based Health Insurance Schemes to widen the ambit of healthcare. Alternating mindsets of people for them to assign priority to health and healthcare is of prime importance.  Thus, the social development team at MedicaSynergie is working towards developing effective behaviour change communication strategies for various dimensions of development.

The group is also involved in policy level research to strengthen the healthcare delivery.  Its work includes implementation of bio-medical waste management strategy, human resource strengthening in healthcare facilities, and revamping and upgrading physical infrastructure in government-aided health centres. It also involves developing strategies for prevention and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, issues of malnutrition, and maternal and infant mortality. It is working on concepts towards strengthening public healthcare delivery, encouraging private participation and establishing Public Private Partnerships to strengthen the Indian healthcare scenario.
